That’s just it: our elected government officials do not do what is best for our needs and desires, but rather for their own. It is a sad time in history when a critical thinker like David Brooks could put that in a piece and be okay with it. Minds like his with the outlets he has should be bringing to light and criticizing these insane contradictions at the base of how our government functions. Career politicians look out for themselves (and those who fill their pockets with cash) and do not make the hard decisions they need to make to actually correct problems and make America a better country for the majority of it’s citizens. Until that mindset changes in our country we will forever be in this Great Recession…
